The American Idol season finale is tonight and it appears that the troubled FOX singing competition will stay the course and continue on in its "promote our own product at any cost" ways. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the season finale will feature performances from Mariah Carey (an American Idol judge), Keith Urban (samesies) and Adam Lambert (a guy who once lost on American Idol). The only non-AI chum who will perform during tonight's season finale is K-Pop novelty rapper PSY (which just solidifies the image of American Idol as a program that's lagging behind in the pop culture pantheon). "American Idol" season 11 champion Phillip Phillips seems to be having some more medical issues. Thanks to an announcement from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and a Twitter post by Phillips himself, we now know that his college tour has been postponed "due to doctor's orders." In the past, Phillips suffered from kidney stones and almost had to leave the singing competition last year. He is currently the reigning champion of the popular series.
