After rumors spread earlier in 2015 that the next Star Trek movie would actually be called Star Trek Beyond instead of Star Trek 3, we've been waiting for an official confirmation from those involved. Simon Pegg, who is co-writing and co-starring in the next sci-fi blockbuster, mentioned the title in a blog post, but hadn't addressed this slip-up since. Now director Justin Lin has posted the title to Twitter, making us pretty sure that Star Trek Beyond is most likely the title of the 2016 movie. Read more on this news below.

Lin, who directed a number of the Fast and Furious films and some of True Detective's second season episodes, took to Twitter to announce that he and the cast and crew of Star Trek 3 have officially started filming the new movie. Using some hashtags and showing off a cool uniform patch from the set, the director might have also confirmed the rumored title.
He shared this hashtag and photo with the caption: "Let the next Starfleet voyage begin!" Clearly, the director is excited about taking over the J.J. Abrams franchise.

As we can see, this new uniform is looking pretty slick. What's even cooler is the fact that Lin probably confirmed the title of this new project.
