Reports confirm that ex-NBA player Renaldo Balkman was recently banned from the Philippine Basketball Association after choking fellow Petron Blaze Boosters teammate, Arwind Santos. Apparently, the former New York Knicks and Denver Nuggets star was not happy with one referee during the PBA Commissioners Cup game, and decided to take out his anger on those around him. Things got so heated that Balkman ended up shoving Santos and putting his hands around his throat before other teammates stepped in to restrain the 6'8" forward. In an exclusive, "tell all" interview with Howard Kurtz of the Daily Beast, popular journalist and anchorman Matt Lauer opens up at the controversial NBC firing of former "Today Show" co-host, Ann Curry. According to Lauer, executives at NBC handled the entire situation rather poorly - as a result, the direction of the prestigious morning television show plummeted downhill and influenced "devastating" ratings. Things got extremely dark and depressing, and Lauer reveals that he "lost a lot of battles" when he attempted to turn things back around in a more positive direction. Reports confirm that undercover NYPD cops shot and killed an alleged teen gunman in Brooklyn on Saturday, March 9. Officers claim that when an unmarked anti-crime patrol car passed by a group of male teenagers in East Flatbush on Saturday night, 16-year-old Kimani Gray began acting suspicious while adjusting his waistband. The young man then allegedly pulled out a .357 caliber gun and pointed it right at the policemen. The officers quickly responded by opening fire, although several eyewitnesses insist that Gray was not acting hostile in any way. The boy was shot in the leg and stomach and promptly transferred to the Kings County Hospital, where he later died from his gun wounds. Read More »
Reports from China confirm that over 2,800 dead, decomposing pigs were found floating in Shanghai's popular Huangpu River - a source of drinking water for some of the city's 23 million inhabitants. The nearly 3,000 slain swine have since been pulled from the waters, but it still remains a mystery as to how they got there. Although authorities insist that there's currently no health risk involved in drinking the contaminated water, this incident again raises concerns over the toxic state of several Chinese natural environments, especially in regards to rivers. Reports confirm that the popular 1980s metal band Motley Crue had to cut their Sydney, Australia concert short on Sunday (March 10) after rocker Vince Neil was forced to exit the stage due to "severe pain." The 52-year-old lead vocalist is currently suffering from kidney stones, and the condition got so bad on Sunday that he was unable to finish the band's set at Allphones Arena. Several fellow Crue members took to Twitter to apologize to Australia fans for the inconvenience - Neil is scheduled to undergo surgery to remove the kidney stones sometime soon. Read More »
