The Daft Punk rumor mill is starting pick up again. The French dance duo of Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo were recently spotted shooting a video in New York City with brand new Victoria's Secret model Karlie Kloss. Of course, no one knows for sure if this is a video for a song off their hit new album Random Access Memories, something to do with their single "Get Lucky" or something else. Surprise, surprise. The most cleverly marketed album in quite a while (Daft Punk's Random Access Memories) continues to dominate the charts. The album topped the UK sales charts for the second week in a row with sales of 53,000. This brought their two-week total to 218,000. Read More »
Unfortunately for Daft Punk fans, it doesn't look like the French duo will be going on a 2013 tour anytime soon. However, with the release of their single "Get Lucky" and new album Random Access Memories, fans should be held over for the foreseeable future. The band has had massive success with their 2013 album, which features an array of guest collaborations. The French duo has released their best album to date, according to MTV News, Random Access Memories is their first #1 album and second-best debut of the year on the Billboard 200 next week (behind Justin Timberlake's 968,000 for The 20/20 Experience). While Daft Punk's new album Random Access Memories has been in stores for a week now (and it's masterful, pre-launch buzz-building campaign has been viewed, dissected and praised), it appears the robots have a few more promotional tricks up their sleeves. Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter made a rare in-the-helmet appearance at Le Grand Prix de Monaco as part of a cross-promotional deal between the Lotus Formula One team and Columbia Records. Ever since Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter started releasing teaser videos of their single "Get Lucky," fans have been craving more. The record setting album features collaborations from the likes of Pharrell Williams, Niles Rodgers, Panda Bear and others.
