We really don't know much about the upcoming third installment of the rebooted Star Trek movie franchise, currently referred to as Star Trek 3, but we're pretty excited that series star Simon Pegg is currently writing the film's script with screenwriter Doug Jung for director Justin Lin. Considering Pegg has been in the two previous films directed by J.J. Abrams and has a certain knowledge or and a draw in the "nerd" universe, we're most likely in good hands. Without reporting on any new casting rumors, we have a great update from Pegg himself, in which he says the next movie will have the "spirit" of the TV show the films are based on!

Taking part in a roundtable discussion to promote his new film, Kill Me Three Times, Pegg opened up about his script with Jung, and how he hopes fans of the TV series will enjoy the next movie.
"I think we just want to take it forward with the spirit of the TV show," Pegg said, according to ComicBookResources (via The Hollywood Reporter). "And it's a story about frontierism and adventure and optimism and fun, and that's where we want to take it, you know. Where no man has gone before - where no one has gone before, sensibly corrected for a slighter more enlightened generation. But yeah, that's the mood at the moment."
