While screenwriter Roberto Orci is the frontrunner to direct Star Trek 3 thanks to his work on the first film and Into Darkness, an official decision has not been made. Fortunately for Orci, series star Zachary Quinto appears to be on his side and is sure that Orci will be named director sometime soon. Plus he expects more news like release dates, cast and other spoilers will be announced as well!

"He is a cornerstone of what we built with that iteration of the franchise and I am looking forward to getting back to it," Zachary Quinto said of the rumored director.
Quinto went on to state that he truly believes that Orci "will direct" the follow up to J.J. Abrams' Star Trek Into Darkness.
Plus, the Spock actor also went on to talk about the movie series and how excited he is about it.
"The great thing about [the Star Trek] experience has always been that it has evolved and unfolded very organically and I think that is the case for where we are now. They are working on the script," he explained. "They are taking it to the next level and I am sure within the next weeks and months we will get more information on when it is going to happen and what the story is. It is in formation mode now."
Hopefully Quinto is at least correct about announcements being made soon. The film is supposed to hit theaters in 2016.
