Perhaps one of the best sketches of this past Sunday's Saturday Night Live 40th anniversary was Celebrity Jeopardy. Why? Well, because it gathered some of the most iconic celebs (both the performers and the impersonations) together again for one of our favorite SNL sketches of all time. And while Darryl Hammond delighted playing Sean Connery, as he usually does, and Norm MacDonald thrilled us all with his famed Burt Reynolds/Turd Ferguson impression ... it seems that there was supposed to be a little more star power in there. And yes, Kenan Thompson did a wonderful job as famed comedian/alleged rapist Bill Cosby, but it seems he wasn't the first choice to play the role of the good doctor. So, who was supposed to? One time SNL savior Eddie Murphy, who appeared in the NBC studio for the first time in about 30 years – which turned out to be a bit of a letdown. All we can say is it’s about time comedian Colin Quinn got his own series … just saying. The famed comic and former Saturday Night Live Weekend Update anchor just dropped the premiere for his new web series Cop Show, which is now on L/Studio. The video came just after Quinn’s appearance on SNL’s legendary 40th anniversary show. Anyone who watched this past Sunday’s Saturday Night Live 40th anniversary special is well aware that the show was a star-studded event filled with some of the biggest names in comedy, TV, film and music. And as great as the show was, the after party proved to be even better. How do we know? Well, The Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon told a lengthy (yet totally entertaining) tale of the evening’s happenings. Billy on the Street star Billy Eichner sure is moving up in the world, and it looks like one of his pastime guests, Elena, agrees! The often loud-mouthed comedian recently had First Lady Michelle Obama – you know, the FLOTUS! – on a special episode of his series, which is from Funny or Die, alongside the one and only Big Bird in order promote healthy eating, the First Lady's Let's Move campaign and Sesame Street's Eat Brighter movement at a grocery store in Washington D.C. Throughout the episode, the healthy quartet – though some seemed healthier than others – played a quiz game titled Ariana Grande or Eating A Carrot? in which Eichner asked his contestants some questions that were only deemed correct if he agreed. Conan O’Brien is heading to Cuba! Well, technically he already went there. But the episode of TBS’ CONAN he filmed overseas will air this coming March 4. Yes, it’s being reported that the red-headed late night show took advantage of that newfound embargo release and decided to film an episode of his famed television show there. It’s reportedly the first time since The Tonight Show host Jack Paar did so back in 1959, when he apparently interviewed the newly-brought-to-power Fidel Castro. Read More »
Last night’s Saturday Night Live 40th Anniversary Special was an undoubted success. It was hilarious, entertaining and a total feel good piece of material – not to mention nostalgic. No matter the word you choose to describe it, the idea of getting all of those talented individuals, many of whom started on the famed NBC sketch show, into one room was undeniably legendary. And being that it was a live show, it just meant that anything could happen. And, well, anything did happen. Kanye West is popping up out of his chair everywhere these days. "MStars News" previously reported that the rapper once again pulled his 2009 Taylor Swift stage interruption on rocker Beck, but quickly went back to his chair at the Grammys. Now it seems that Kanye pulled his infamous stunt on the "SNL 40" anniversary show. According to "USA Today," Kanye and the "Today" show was in on the joke, as Kim Kardashian's husband interrupted co-hosts Matt Lauer, Savannah Guthrie, Carson Daly and Al Roker. If you tuned into the Saturday Night Live 40th anniversary special earlier tonight then you were undoubtedly aware of the incredible amount of names who took to the famed stage – or just sat in the audience – at NBC's 30 Rockefeller Plaza. Saturday Night Live will be airing its live 40th anniversary special, beginning at 8 p.m. At 7 p.m., however, NBC will be airing the red carpet event hosted by hosts of the one and only Today Show.
