An up-and-coming, promising filmmaker was found dead inside an abandoned hostel only three days after he had decided to live on the streets for a week to document homeless people in Newcastle, England. Lee Harpin was a 26-year-old journalist upstart who wanted to use this documentary project to get into Channel 4's highly competitive Investigative Journalism Program. Former Brigham Young University star and current NBA player on the Sacramento Kings Jeffer Fredette is suing a Utah-based clothing company, Black Clover Enterprises, for $50,000 plus royalties. Fredette's Salt Lake City-based attorney, Tyson Snow, filed the lawsuit on Monday in Utah's 3rd District Court against Black Clover Enterprises. The suit alleges a breach of contract, "abuse of Fredette's identity and using his name and likeness for profit." During their first day of their two-day trip to Scotland, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge visited Glasgow, Scotland, to see a homeless shelter and launch a sports program. In Scotland, the royals are known as the Earl and Countess of Strathearn. Kate Middleton hid her growing baby bump under a warm, wool overcoat to stay warm in the Glasgow weather. Prince William and his wife visited the Quarriers Stopover project, and even have a Skype meeting with two homeless people in the Netherlands. After spending five years in prison and 5 years on probation, Brian Banks has been exonerated and just signed to the Atlanta Falcons at the age of 27 years old. In 2002, Brian was 17 years old. The 28-year-old Yoga instructor wife of actor Alec Baldwin, Hilaria Thomas, took to Twitter yesterday to update everyone on her pregnancy. "Just hit the half-way mark!" she tweeted to her over 14,000 followers. Hilaria added that she "saw the baby" and that her daughter is "beautiful and healthy!" According to the Chicago Sun-Times, the longtime employer of the legendary film critic, Roger Ebert has died today at the age of 70 years old. Ebert had fought a perilous battle with cancer throughout his life. He was regularly treated for salivary gland cancer, thyroid cancer and cancer of the jawbone. Eventually, he lost his jaw and his ability to talk. This however did not slow the critic whom some describe as a poet to slow down. Brandon Watson, one of the stars of truTV’s reality show “Black Gold,” was arrested last week for reportedly driving while under the influence of alcohol and for hitting parked cars with his vehicle and not posting notice afterwards (“hit-and-run”). Officers said that the 31-year-old oilfield driller was uncooperative with police. He was later released on a $1,500 bond but the news of the incident did not stay private. Read More »
24-year-old Marek Lapinski, a software developer from San Diego, California, had his wisdom teeth removed on March 21 and three days later he died. His family is now searching for answers in regards to the medical care administered during the dental procedure. Lapinski was apparently a healthy young man with no history of medical problems, which makes the task of figuring out what went wrong more daunting. Christopher Abbott, who plays Charlie on the HBO hit show "Girls," has decided to leave the show, citing creative differences with the show's writer and lead actress Lena Dunham. The 27-year-old actor is reportedly working on "numerous other projects and has decided not to return to the show" for the third season. "Game of Thrones" actress Lena Headey apparently only has about $5 in her bank account. Though she portrays the wealthy, conniving Queen Cersei on the hit HBO show, it looks like her real-life finances are all but dwindled. The 39-year-old actress split from her husband, Peter Loughran, last year and now the two are in a heated legal battle over splitting their $46,000 tax refund from 2011.
