Now that she is 9 years old, the fossil she found was proven by paleontologists to be a new species of flying dinosaur and it is now named after her. 6-year-old Emilie Parker was of the 20 first-graders killed on December 14th in the tragic Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre by gunman Adam Lanza. Her parents, Alissa and Robbie, met with the shooter's father, Peter, in order to gain some closure on the death of their daughter along with the other children. As part of the The Postal Service's 10-year anniversary of their hit album, Give Up, they and record label Sub Pop are reissuing the album along with some previously unreleased bonus tracks. The band consists of Ben Gibbard and Jimmy Tamborello, who work together to put together an indie-electronica sound that became very popular. Jenny Lewis was a member of the touring band and will return for the reunion tour, which starts in a few weeks. This reissue also features in-studio performances and covers of songs. The Library of Congress has chosen 25 new songs to include in its National Recording Registry for preservation, and one of those songs is Simon and Garfunkel's "The Sound of Silence." Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel wrote this iconic song in response to the assassination of former President John F. Kennedy. Garfunkel is thrilled about this induction and preservation. Ted Danson plays D.B. Russell on the CBS show "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation," which was just renewed for at least one more season leading to the actor signing a new two-year contract with the show. "CSI" will be entering its fourteenth season next year. On Wednesday, a crowd of Culinary Workers Local 226 Union blocked traffic on the Las Vegas Strip for about an hour in protest of the Cosmopolitan casino resort, ending in almost 100 arrests. The demonstration was in response to two years of work without a contract. Negotiations have been ongoing with Cosmopolitan owner, Deutsche Bank, for two years. This is another example in a series of protests, but “the first time union members deployed civil disobedience, the tactical use of nonviolent law breaking, outside a unionized casino in more than two decades,” according to union spokeswoman Yvanna Cancela.
