Last week's episode of NBC's new crime thriller, Hannibal, was the second of the season and definitely followed what the premiere laid out for the viewers. Will (Hugh Dancy) continues to see Lecter for therapy because he does not know how to deal with killing the serial killer from episode one (Garrett Jacob Hobbs). Of course, since it is Will Graham we are talking about, everything is a little heightened and very different than most people. Time magazine released its 100 Most Influential People in the World today and the list includes Jay-Z, Jennifer Lawrence, Lena Dunham, Beyonce, Justin Timberlake and Kate Middleton, to name a few. This year, for the first time in the magazine's special issue's history, there will be seven different covers on newsstands. Jay-Z and Jennifer Lawrence (among others) have their own covers. Yesterday, the Parliament of New Zealand passed a bill that legalizes same sex marriage. This makes New Zealand the thirteenth nation to pass marriage equality. Though this is a great story in itself, the hearing produced two great viral videos for the Internet. Parliament member Maurice Williamson gave what Gawker called "a speech for the ages" in defense of the marriage equality bill. Lord Mayor of London, Alderman Roger Gifford, nearly pierced Her Majesty the Queen of England during yesterday's funeral for former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. Though reports are saying that Elizabeth II "dodged" the ceremonial sword as Gifford swung it around, she was mainly just startled at how close it came to her. The Queen, who turns 87 this weekend, turned to her husband Prince Philip in shock of the close call, to which the Duke of Edinburgh grinned back in response. Read More »
Two-time Academy Award nominee Edward Norton welcomed his first child, a son with his fiancé Shauna Robertson back in March. The accomplished 43-year-old actor is known for his roles in such movies as Fight Club, 25th Hour, American History X, and Primal Fear. On top of his many accolades, he can now add "father" to his list. Norton has always been private with his personal life but he and Robertson were happy to share the news of their baby boy with the world. Read More »
Yesterday, the United Kingdom lay to rest its former Prime Minister, the "Iron Lady" Margaret Thatcher. While the funeral itself was big news, the service introduced the world to Margaret's 19-year-old, American granddaughter, Amanda Thatcher. The University of Richmond freshman inadvertently turned heads and even started a frenzy on Twitter during her praise-worthy speech at her grandmother's funeral. People are comparing this to how Pippa Middleton turned heads at the Royal Wedding two years ago. Amanda's classmates in high school voted her "Most likely to change the world," and it looks like she has an early start. Read More »
19-year-old Irish singer Niall Horan has allegedly been flirting with 20-year-old "Corrie" star Brooke Vincent on Twitter and has called her his "ideal woman." The two even posed for a photo together during Niall's One Direction concert in Manchester last month, spurring rumors of a romance. It looks like yesterday's big rumor about a "Friend" comeback reunion season has turned out to be completely false. The hit NBC comedy's Co-Creator Marta Kauffman was recently asked by E! Online about the supposed reunion season in 2014. Kauffman laughed off the rumor saying that it is definitely not happening and that any sort of reunion is not going to occur either. So feel free to let keep hoping for some sort of Ross, Phoebe, Rachel, Monica, Joey and Chandler meet up, but it looks like that is not going to come to fruition. Read More »
Patton Oswalt has been all over the Internet this week. Though he is an exception comedian with a successful career, not a lot of people knew about him until he posted a poignant reaction posts on Twitter and Facebook about the Boston Marathon bombings on Monday. After that, he was featured in a viral Batman video as the Penguin, which was just funny and now he is set to guest star on NBC's hit show "Parks and Recreation." Justin Bieber is known for staying connected with his fans, and often uses Twitter and other social media outlets to do so. Yesterday, the 19-year-old "Beauty and the Beat" singer posted a piece of artwork for his fans. That seems like a nice thing to do, right? Well, not exactly. The picture features the pop star snuggling in bed with a "Belieber." "Beliebers" in Oman and the surrounding areas are currently dealing with the disappointing news that Justin Bieber's "Believe" tour will not be stopping through on May 6 as scheduled. The events organizer, Alive Entertainment, cancelled the show and have since offered full refunds or trade ins for another show that was just added. Due to an overwhelming demand, a second Dubai show has been added on the Middle East leg of Justin's "Believe" world tour on May 5. Read More »
Shakira’s ex-boyfriend Antonio de la Rua, the son of the former President of Argentina, filed a lawsuit against the new mother and “The Voice” judge claiming that he inspired her to write the 2010 World Cup theme, “Waka Waka.” De la Rua also claims he was responsible for her hit “Hips Don’t Lie” and that he shaped the singer’s sexy image and brand, demanding $250 million in the lawsuit. Shakira, who just had a son with international 26-year-old soccer star Gerard Pique, has denied these claims and asked a New York judge to throw out her ex-boyfriend’s case. Read More »
