Justin Bieber posted a new picture to his Instagram account of him and singer Chris Brown posing together. Zach Galifianakis brought a longtime friend to yesterday's Los Angeles premiere of The Hangover Part III: an 87-year-old woman who he saved from homelessness two years ago. Elizabeth "Mimi" Haist met Galifianakis about 20 years ago when she was working for tips at a Laundromat. When the comedian heard that she had fallen into destitution, Galifianakis found her, bought her an apartment and has been paying her rent and utilities. Read More »
After about a month or so of rumors of a return to his hosting gig of the Oscars in 2104, Seth MacFarlane announced yesterday on Twitter that he has turned down the job. After mixed reviews and controversial segments from the 2013 Academy Awards, many people were surprised that the "Family Guy" creator was asked back. Ray Manzarek of The Doors died last night in Rosenheim, Germany, surrounded by his family. The 74-year-old musician had been stricken with bile duct cancer according to his manager Tom Vitorino. As a founding member of the iconic rock n' roll group The Doors, Manzarek helped bring to life the psychedelic age of music along with Jim Morrison. As much as Morrison was known for his cryptic lyrics and baritone singing voice, Manzarek was known for his architectural approach to the keyboard. Read More »
Jonathan Rhys Meyers is supposedly in talks to join the cast of Star Wars: Episode VII, which will hit theaters in 2015. If this rumor turns out to be true, the Irish actor would be the first new name to join the cast as opposed to the (yet to be completely confirmed) returning actors from the original trilogy. Details on what role the 35-year-old Tudors star would play have yet to be announced, but he would be reuniting with director J.J. Abrams this project. Today marks the release of Canadian pop star Carly Rae Jepsen's newest single "Take a Picture" on iTunes. The interesting thing about this song is that her fans actually helped her write it! Jepsen, who has always been pretty close with her fans, allowed her followers to vote on lyrics online in order to complete the song. Gus Wenner is fresh out of college but just acquired one of the best jobs in the music industry today. The 22-year-old musician and Brown graduate is now the head of overall operations for Rollingstone.com, the website for the immensely popular music publication Rolling Stone magazine. Unfortunately this news has been veiled with accusations of nepotism because Gus' father Jann Wenner is the owner of Rolling Stone. This Saturday marked the last episode of Saturday Night Live for cast member Bill Hader. Also, Seth Meyers is set to leave the popular sketch comedy show in 2014 for his new gig as host of "Late Night" and SNL cast members Fred Armisen and Jason Sudeikis are rumored to be eying an exit as well (yet to be confirmed). James Blake has just added a large amount of dates to the rest of his touring schedule in support of his latest album Overgrown. Although we have to wait until 2015 to see Star Wars: Episode VII on the big screen, Lucasfilm has already announced some of its offshoot projects involved in the popular science fiction franchise universe. We will reportedly be treated to a number of other films focusing on specific stories and characters from the universe as well as video games and television shows in the same vein. In terms of television shows Disney has greenlighted the show "Star Wars Rebels," an animated series that will first heir as a one-hour special on the Disney Channel in 2104 before becoming a full-fledged series on Disney XD afterwards.
